Liability Statement
ICETREK ehf is a fully licensed Icelandic travel agency, tour operator, and transport provider under the brands ICETREK and HIGHLANDS OF ICELAND. This liability statements is valid for tours sold under the brand name Icetrek and Highlands of Iceland.
1. Insurance Coverage
ICETREK maintains third-party liability insurance as required under Icelandic law. This covers claims arising from negligence directly attributable to ICETREK staff or operations. ICETREK does not assume liability for actions by independent service providers.
2. Assumption of Risk
By booking and participating in our tours, clients acknowledge the inherent risks of Icelandic outdoor activities—including extreme weather, rugged terrain, volcanic activity, and remote locations—and accept responsibility for their participation.
3. Health, Fitness & Conduct
Clients must assess their own fitness and disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or limitations. ICETREK reserves the right to require medical clearance or deny participation based on safety concerns. Behavior including intoxication may result in refusal of service without refund, in line with industry practice.
4. Use of Equipment
Clients must use all the gear provided as instructed and return it in good condition. Clients are financially responsible for damage due to misuse, mirroring industry standards.
5. Third-Party Providers
ICETREK is not liable for the acts or omissions of third-party providers—such as accommodations, restaurants, or transport—arranged on your behalf.
6. Force Majeure & Itinerary Changes
ICETREK is not responsible for delays or changes due to circumstances beyond our control—like extreme weather or natural disasters. All such events will be managed according to our Cancellation Policy.
7. Safety-Related Tour Changes
For safety reasons, we may modify or cancel tours due to adverse conditions (e.g., avalanches, volcanic activity). In such cases, clients are offered refunds or alternative arrangements.
8. Complaints & Feedback
Any complaints regarding your tour must be submitted in writing within 5 days of completion to help@icetrek.is. Failure to do so may limit eligibility for compensation.
9. Governing Law
All bookings and services are governed by Icelandic law, and any disputes shall be resolved in the District Court of Reykjavík.
10. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and loss or damage to belongings.
